Every traveler with a serious case of wanderlust always has an eye out for new airline routes. Aside from the opportunity of finally fly direct to a fresh destination, most airlines also tend to give good rates and discounts for inaugural journeys to promote the new path. So, if you are looking for a different place to travel in 2017, here are eight new routes from Southeast Asia to keep on your radar. And, when you’re ready to search for flights, Cheapflights.com.ph can help with that too.
Port Louis, Mauritius
A new addition to Air Asia’s roster of destinations from Kuala Lumpur is Mauritius’s capital, Port Louis. Apart from its renowned white sand beaches and expansive national parks, the island country is also home to a brew of French, British, Indian, and Creole cultures, soulful tea blends, and the award-winning Mauritian Phoenix Pale (also known locally as Spider Beer), which is a must-try. Operating three times weekly since October, the new path is serviced by the Airbus A330-300, which boasts 377 seats, 12 of which are its award-winning Premium Flatbeds.
Jinjiang, China
Adding to the current Beijing, Shanghai, Xiamen, Guangzhou, Hong Kong and Macau lineup, Philippine Airlines (PAL), the country’s flag carrier, has recently added another exciting Chinese destination from Manila: Jinjiang. Situated in Quanzhou City in the Fujian province, the county is PAL’s 37th international destination and one that is apparently close to home as many members of the Filipino-Chinese community have traced their roots to this part of China.
Sydney, Australia
From Nov. 23, 2016, Singapore‘s flag carrier, Singapore Airlines, expands their operations by adding a new Singapore-Jakarta-Sydney route three times a week (or every Monday, Wednesday and Friday).
San Francisco, California, United States
Following the discontinuance of its Sao Paulo flights, Singapore Airlines has — on the bright side — introduced non-stop flights between Singapore and San Francisco, California, starting from October 23. San Francisco is, of course, more than just the Golden Gate bridge, the “Full House” house and cable cars, this City by the Bay is also known for its pulsating nightlife, startup scene, excellent coffee culture and wine tours to Sonoma and Napa Valley.
Jaipur, India
Singaporean low-cost, long-haul airline Scoot recently introduced its first-ever direct flight from Singapore to Jaipur. Playfully calling the aircraft “Kamascootra,” in honor of the ancient Hindu text Kama Sutra, the plane is fitted with 335 seats, 21 of which are premium economy. So, if you’ve always wanted to sample authentic Rajasthani cuisine and discover architectural landmarks such as the Hawa Mahal, Amer Fort and Birla Temple, now’s the time!
Guam, United States
In case you haven’t heard, Philippine low-cost airline Cebu Pacific is now offering flights from Manila to Guam four times a week. The Western Pacific island known for its dive spots and hiking trails is the carrier’s first U.S. route and 30th international route. While there are currently other airlines servicing the same route, Cebu Pacific promises low year-round fares to the tropical destination.
Da Nang, Vietnam
After the successful debuts of its Sihanoukville-Ho Chi Minh City flights last June and the Siem Reap-Da Nang service in July, the Cambodia Angkor Air is further boosting its connections to Vietnam with the latest launch of its direct Siem Reap-Hanoi route, making it possible for travelers to easily jet off to the Vietnamese capital after exploring the ancient ruins and UNESCO Heritage Sites of Cambodia’s northwestern resort town.
Tehran, Iran
Thanks to budget airline Air Asia, Tehran is accessible and affordable to Southeast Asian travelers. With its mixture of culture and history, this Iranian capital surrounded by mountains to its north and the desert to its south is worth the trip. Apart from hundred of museums and galleries that dot the city, Tehran also features beautiful palaces such as the Golestan Palace and Sa’dabad Palace, grand bazaars and some of the best ski resorts in the world. While in Iran, you shouldn’t miss the ancient remains of Persepolis, which can be reached via a train, bus, or an hour-flight to Shiraz.
